This one is out there. Heartland Eco Retreat in Herekino is on the Kaitaia Ahipara Road, in a seriously quite and tropical locale. The accommodation is built from mudbrick, and so are the pizza oven and the outdoor bath. It is very well reviewed, especially by dark sky photographers. A great base for walking in the nearby forest.
