21 George Street, Port Chalmers, Dunedin City
World Famous in Port Chalmers and maybe a little further afield. The former Sutton Brothers premises evokes an almost hysterical level of nostalgia for some who grew up in an era when Tiger Tea was advertised upon many a grocery store via a variety or painted on murals featuring tigers.
This particular premises, by Mason and Wales, dates to 1874 and was always an institution of Port Chalmers as it was a popular grocery store, known as Suttons, then Emersons.
Now the occupant is a manufacturing jeweller who as been there since 1986.
The print is by Hamish Allan.
