Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park

Also known as Bastion Point, Takaparawhau, Whenua Rangatira. Takaparawhau, also known as Whenua Rangatira, covers 49 hectares of harbour-edge land high above Tamaki Drive. A key feature is the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial, a tribute to the first Labour Prime Minister of New Zealand and the founder of the Welfare State. The park offers panoramic views over Whenua Rangatira, Auckland city and Waitemata Harbour. It is adjacent to the Ngati Whatua papakainga..
