Stonefields playground is a banger - it’s literally squeezed onto a single block nestled within rows of townhouses, if you don’t drive around the corner, you won’t even see it. But once you find it, you know you’ve found a gem.
HIGHLIGHT
This place has the coolest water feature, some other parks have puddles and what not but the water feature here is quite literally a small, man-made stream that kids can fill up when they want!
WHAT WE LIKED
- Very tidy, everything is nicely spaced and there is quite a bit of playing and running space despite where it is.
- The main play structure is quite cool, it has big slides and a couple of levels to climb on.
- Very epic sandpit, with a tiny slide going right into it.
- Free street parking - these streets are quite tiny, but there is enough road side parking.
- It is very peaceful and quiet, not sure about it in the weekend though.
- There is a tiny pump track here, and a small track around the playground kids can ride their bikes around.
- Water feature is really cool - turn on the tap, move the water from one of the playground to the other! WATER was turned off when we went though :( during level 2 lockdown.
- Just around the corner from STONEFIELDS market and Charlie and George cafe.
- Artificial grass as opposed to bark or soft mats, it’s quite cool. I’m gonna give this a Yes!
WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE?
- While there are trees in the periphery, it doesn’t shade kids/parents from the sun during the day very well.
- No enclosure here and it is surrounded on three sides by roads, gotta watch the kids!
- I couldn’t see any public amenities like washrooms or toilets around here. Might have to go around the block to the market and the cafes.
- Not a lot more to do in the area - can hike up Mt Wellington but you need to drive out a little bit more.
