Of course, a park of this generous proportion also has the practical amenities - toilets, drinking fountains, and tables.

4. Myers Park Playground, Inner City

Myers Park is one of the few inner city Playgrounds at the top of town. with a little bit of everything and a nice floor zone - typcially our parks have a bark fall zone.  This is a great place for the kids to have a run - which can be just what you need being in the ciy.

5.  Waikowhai Park, Hillsborough

Waikowhai Park (kowhai by the water) is the jewel in a network of parks on the northern banks of the Manukau Harbour. This park is a significant ecological area, so is awesome for Walking tracks, includes dog walking areas and a playground with an awesome super large slide, a flying fox and some multi-play structures.

6.  Western Park, Ponsonby

Western Park is one of the oldest Parks and features a seriously cool playground including one of  Auckland's highest and largest slides at 25 metres it's bound to impress.  With a fitness trail, sportsfield and a tennis court, and a lovely wide path ways this is a great park to enjoy.

7. Sandspit Reserve Playground, Waiuku

Sandspit Reserve Playground  All aboard! This nautical-themed playground has enough to keep the kids occupied for a while.  Located on the water's edge with easy parking, lots of shelter this playground ticks lots of boxes.  There's a rocking dinghy, swings and a slide, and a tall climbing net that looks like a ship's rigging. There's also a basketball hoop and sandpit

SEARCH All Playgrounds in Auckland

It is our aim to help you get out there and enjoy the best quality playtime with your kids. Time is precious and you don't have time to drive from one to the next to see if it's suitable. With Places New Zelanads Playground Search you no longer have to, no matter where you are in the country.

If you have photos of your local playground please contribute them, so others can make informed choices and share the joy of spending quality time with there kids on the playgrounds throughout New Zealand, I know our kids would love to see and visit more of them, and I'm sure others would as well.

Of course, we also believe a playground is not just about taking the kids somewhere to run off some steam, it’s also a time for parents to take five, and spend some time with the kids, enjoy fresh air and grass time (yes evidence shows we need to walk in the grass without our shoes on, now stop reading this, so get searching, find a playground to visit, and get going).
