Our 18 hole, par 70 (par 72 for Ladies) course is set amidst 120 acres of open countryside with panoramic views of the River Crouch and South Essex Countryside from all parts of the course. Although a parkland course, its proximity to the river gives some holes a ‘links’ feel, and offers a challenge to players of all abilities. Our greens are in top condition throughout the year. The superb drainage system installed a few years ago makes play possible for 52 weeks of the year.
With our small membership, the course is generally uncrowded and there is no need to book tee times but it is always better to check with the Pro Shop regarding tee closures and competitions.
Burnham Golf Club is situated 6 km south of Rolleston, New Zealand’s fastest growing town. Turn right off SH 1 (Main South Road) at the intersection with Aylesbury Road and follow the signs to the Burnham Military Camp. Burnham Golf Club is across the road.
The course is an easy flat walk with most fairways tightly tree lined and require accuracy off the tee and pin point shot making into the greens. There is one water hazard on the course and no bunkers. An internal out of bounds operates on fairway 12 for any player unlucky enough to hit their ball into the NZ Army's Ammunition Magazine (balls are non-retrievable unless you'd like to see the Military Police in action!).
Visitors are welcome to participate on club days with tee off times between 11.00am and 11.30am
• Club days are Wednesdays and Saturdays
• The third Wednesday of the month is Machinery Tournament Day (all visitors welcome to participate in this monthly fundraising tournament)
Membership includes a mid-week and summer option. We have a junior section (up to 18 years) for as little as $40 and a section that caters for those (up to 24 years) attending a tertiary institution. The club also offers a 9 hole membership.
The club operates a regular 6 week “New to Golf” programme in partnership with the Rolleston Community Centre. Please contact the Community Centre or the club for more information.
Burnham is popular with green fee players because of the easy access on to the course on any day of the week or weekend. Group bookings are welcome and depending on numbers receive reduced green fees plus bar and catering facilities on request.
