Mt Somers Walkway

Mt Somers is an ancient volcanic mountain. The 17km walkway passes to the west of the peak and is classified as a tramp. It takes 10 hours and involves a 700m climb.. En route you pass through mountain beech forest, snow tussock and subalpine scrub. While it can be done in one day most people take two. Commercial guided tours will take you over the walkway or on nature tours in the region.
