58 Plimmer Terrace, Shannon, Horowhenua
The occasional train still stops here but the Shannon Railway Station is now owned by the Horowhenua District Council, has been restored by locals, and is principally a museum devoted to showing how things were.
It is the only surviving building erected by the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (WMR). The town itself Shannon is, named after WMR director G. V. Shannon. The company operated the line between Wellington and Longburn from 1885 until it was taken over by New Zealand Railways in 1908.
