Hemi Matenga Memorial Park Scenic Reserve

Native forest reserve of 330 hectares, protecting one of the largest remaining areas of kohekohe forest. Several tracks cater for short or long walks. The easiest (30 mins) links Tui Crescent and Kakariki Grove. The highest point, Te Au, is 514 metres above sea level. A good track leads steadily uphill to a lookout for coastal views on the ridge line. Allow 1,5 to 2 hours for the up and back trip. (See the map)
