Hokonui Pioneer Village and Vintage Car Club Motor Museum

Gore Museums

Hokonui Pioneer Village and Vintage Car Club Motor Museum are the permanent residents of Pioneer Park, North Gore.
The village has been growing on this spot since the 1970s, thanks to a committee determined to preserve the area's Heritage.

The Park was established in 1977. It was founded by the people of Gore and Eastern Southland to protect the history of the local area. It was hard yards at first for them as the park itself was a former clay mine. Exhibits now include a church with a lychgate, an old bank, a pioneer cottage, an early school and a blacksmith as well as the crane which used to service the Earnslaw at Kingston.

There is also an indoor museum complex and the Vintage Car Club Motor Museum is nearby.
