Wynyard Quarter

The Wynyard Quarter, previously known as the Tank Farm, gives Auckland waterfront’s a much needed “cultural and social heart”. This ambitious waterfront redevelopment shows every sign of being a success; that Auckland has finally 'got it right'. A new pedestrian bridge known as the Wynyard Crossing links the centre to Viaduct Harbour. The bridge is raised when yachts want to enter or leave the Basin. Also in the development is Silo Park, a new inner city park with westward views of Westhaven Marina and an exciting children's playground. Trams operate on a 15min circuit within the precinct. Along Jellicoe Street are new restaurants and bars. One street back is the Auckland Fish Market. The Wynyard Quarter is home to an innovation precinct. Silo Park is host to markets on Friday from 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from midday. A medium density housing development is complete, creating a greater diversity of housing and residents than in other parts of the waterfront.
The success of the development of this area means that it has attracted a lot of smaller service type businesses including small and larger hospitality providers and tourist operators. Wynyard Quarter is the seaplane port.
