David Lange Memorial

Fittingly David Lange's memorial is in Otahuhu; the multi-ethnic area where he was born and which he represented in Parliament. Conceived as an outdoor room it includes a vessel (boat) form referencing the Otahuhu portage route between the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours. Laser cut words from his maiden speech in Parliament and from the Nuclear debate in Oxford are inscribed into the vessel. Sculptor Virginia King produced the work in 2008.
