Pegasus Town

A new town for 7000 people based on urban design ideas is being built here. Planned since the 1990s, the initial developer Bob Robertson of Infinity Group
went bankrupt and the development has been bought from the receivers by the Todd Corporation. Since then and with the added impetus of relocation and rebuild following earthquakes, it has grown but slowly. Retail and service outlets have opened, a new golf course is complete, the town boasts of having a lake, wetlands and beach to attract new residents.
The town probably needs local business activity before it fulfils its founder's ideas and becomes more than, like Rolleston, a commuter suburb for Christchurch.
