Departmental Building Whanganui

The concrete structure dominates the facades in this extreme example of "brutalism", the product of the Ministry of Works. That the building is currently empty suggests it does not currently have great appeal to prospective tenants but it is a good example of how architectural fashion changes. (Sept 2008) The Government Architect was Graydon Miskimmin and the project architect Tony Baker (1979-81).
