Turoa Skifield

One of two commercial skifields on Mt Ruapehu, both now run by the same company. NZ's second largest field. If you want to ski or snowboard here you can find accommodation in the town of Ohakune at the foot of the mountain. The drive from Ohakune to the ski field is 17km. The road is good but chains may be required. If you don't want to drive yourself shuttles are available.
