Ranfurly

Central Otago Walks

Ranfurly, named after the fifth Earl of Ranfurly, the 15th Governor General of New Zealand, is the small service centre for the Maniototo area. The town makes a feature of the Art Deco style of some of its buildings which is attributed to the necessity for rebuilding after a series of disastrous and suspicious fires in the 1930s.
A pamphlet is available to guide you on the "Rural Art Deco Ranfurly Walk".
Ranfurly is on the Central Otago Rail Trail.
