59 Clarence Street, Hamilton Lake, Hamilton Central, Hamilton City
Clarence Street Theatre describes itself as Hamilton's home for the creative arts and hosts a variety of acts from small local groups to international touring acts. The facilities centre around an auditorium which can seat 400 or 550, or 900 standing. The stage features a flytower and there is a seperate dance studio.
A community trust runs this venue since the Council gave up on it in 2015, however it's origins are in the Hamilton Operatic Society, who met here in a small hall by virtue of a land gift by an early patron in the 1950s and fundraised to grow facilities until the construction of the current 1986 building.
