Makohine Viaduct viewing reserve

The Makohine Viaduct is an important link on the North Island Main Trunk Line. Designed by P S Hay it was built between 1896 and 1902. It is 228 metres long and 72 metres high. The steel work was fabricated in the Public Works Department’s nearby Mangaonoho workshops.
