WELLINGTON SHORE TOURS FOR CRUISE PASSENGERS
Some smaller vessels have trouble entering the Wellington Harbour but your Cruiseliner will glide in effortlessly and dock here in Pipitea, near the InterIsland Ferry Terminal, Westpac Stadium, and the capital city's Port. Welcome to Wellington.
The 'coolest little capital city' is known for inclement weather and holds the official title of the windiest city in the world, but any Wellingtonian will trot out the local saying "You can't beat Wellington on a good day."
You can go some way to ensuring you have your own "Good Day" by planning your activities and keeping an ear on the weather forecast. The centre of the city is imminently walkable and a very short distance from the Cruise Boat terminal, with some passengers making the choice to walk there. Otherwise there are shuttles.
Public transport will get you most places with trains, buses and trolley buses around town as well as the famed Wellington Cable Car (Funicular Railway). This is the home of the New Zealand Government and tours of the nearby Parliament Buildings run regularly.
One of the favoured destinations for visitors of short duration is Zealandia Ecosanctuary but there are many other attractions to choose from, including Weta Studios and other Lord of the Rings destinations. Take a look at the excursions:
