Herekino Forest Orowhana Track - Western End

The track is a 15km section of Te Araroa (The Long Path) promoted by Geoff Chapple. The forest is home to many rare and threatened species, including the North Island brown kiwi, long tailed bat and kauri snail. There is a splendid grove of Kauri trees. The trail has some steep sections.
