Eastwoodhill Arboretum

Gisborne Gardens

New Zealand's largest exotic tree collection - over 3000 species on 70 hectares. W Douglas Cook started farming this site in 1910. It is now the National Arboretum of New Zealand.
Take State Highway 2 south from Gisborne until the roundabout at the Waipaoa river. Take the Wharekopae road signposted Patutahi/Ngatapa and follow this for 24 km. A map available from the website illustrates the extent of the arboretum and shows the walks.
