An Art Deco building from architect Edmund Anscombe which is seeing new life as luxury waterfront apartments. It was build in 1939 for the Post & Telegraph Department.
In its new guise the ground floor is home to restaurants and shops. A public viewing platform on the building roof affords views of the harbour and city. (Take the lift to the fifth floor)
On Sundays between 8.30am and 12.30am the atrium in the Chaffers building is home to the City Market: a food and wine market featuring provisions from Wellington vendors.
