Kawau Island, Hauraki Gulf Islands
Bostaquet Bay on the Southern end of Kawau Bay is very picturesque and is close to Flat Rock for great fishing.
On a North Easterly and when there is not too much activity on the water, this is a lovely spot to anchor for the night.
**History ** Bostaquet Bay, formerly known as Bosanquet Bay, was said to be the site of a cannibalistic feast, when Maori tribes from the mainland attacked the fierce Kawau tribes (probably Ngatitai and Ngatiwai), ending their control of the island, and their lives, presumably. *
