93A Torea Street, Granity, Buller
The poster-girl amongst New Zealand's far flung family of Tiny Libraries, Granity Library is immaculately original.
Out here on the wildest stretch of the West Coast, the mining people got together in 1903 and built themselves a Library. Unchanged, but cared for, here it remains, next to Granity's modest War Memorial, dedicated to the town's 15 lost men.
Run by a committee, the books are sourced via donations and surplus items from the Buller District Library.
Also at this place is a band rotunda and across the railway track is the Northern Buller Museum.
