88 Scott Road, Ngutunui, Otorohanga
Circle the native bush reserve on this easy family walk. One hour will get you over this loop track which is suitable for a mountain buggy. There are a couple of special things about this reserve, one is that it is one of few areas of the thick original bush that used to cover the King Country, and the other is that a lot of special fossils have been found here. The fossils are of the extinct Huia, Pio Pio and Moa birds, which were long gone before Pakeha, and have been useful for studies.
The parking place at the end of Scott Road is also a picnic area. This reserve is administered by the Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society.
